Option 1: Cantocore Solo Exhibition
This option include following component:
- Fashion Book
- A team of two to three photographers will document Canto fashion on the street. They will record styles and take portraits of people who have interesting fashion. After collecting a good amount of material, these images are to be published in a book with commentary by writers and artists such as Chen Tong of the Borges Libria, the well-known art space, and library (where we will have a colloquium about art and identity, and a book signing).
- Additionally, this publication will take the format of a magazine (or newspaper) to be distributed in the street.
- Clothing Workshop
- Invite artists and designers to participate in a counterfeit clothing workshops to create new works using existing fashions. This will happen both in SF and in Guangzhou, with public fashion shows in both SF and Guangzhou, as public interventions.
- Cantocore Exhibitions
- Curate 2 art shows about using reinterpretation and appropriation as strategy in art production.
- Open call to artists globally to create works. The exhibition first takes place in Guangzhou and tours to San Francisco.
- Artists will be invited to Guangzhou from U.S. and vice versa in low impact residency projects to produce work on this theme for the final show.
- Guerilla Fashion Shows
- A series of guerilla style fashion shows will take place in Guangzhou to release the produced clothing. We will invite models and non-models to demonstrate the new counterfeit clothing in public spaces. These public interventions will take the form of fashion shows on temporary runways in mundane environments such as office buildings, shopping malls, government buildings, and in the street.
