Open Clip Art Library 2.5 Ignites Community
September is upon us, and the monthly crossover has again brought along a new update from the Librarians at The Open Clip Art Library. The Open Clip Art Library 2.5 is a feature-rich upgrade that continues along the path forged by it's predecessors, while distinguishing itself with key Community-driven design implementations.
2.5 means a few great enhancements for the OCAL platform, but none outshine the most immediately noticeable. An Activities Box has been placed front-and-center for all site visitors to utilize. This new section, developed by Fabricatorz' own Brad Phillips, was set in motion in hopes of increasing Community contributions. Users will find up-to-date links relating to the most recent goings on in The Open Clip Art Library domain. In this way, the Activities Section serves as a platform for Community projects and Contests to grow and prosper like never before!
WorldLabel notes:
In the weeks since it's implementation, the statistics, alone, provide an exhibit A of sorts. Site registration is up 1,100 over the month prior, while last month also saw over 1,100 new image uploads (bringing the total to an unbelievable 34,160 - as of this writing).
Alongside the 2.5 upgrade comes the latest Themed Package Release. This month's theme focused on the Fall Season. The newly instantiated Activities Box helped propel the Package to an astounding 120 plus original submissions (a 75% improvement over the month prior)! The Librarians hope to continue this upward trend with next moth's big Halloween 2010 Theme. Don't fogret to tag your related spooky SVGs with the key term halloween2010, when uploading!
Keeping pace with OCAL, Fabricatorz Developer Bassel Safadi's Aiki Framework updates to Version 0.4! This latest release includes features-a-plenty and several key bug fixes involving the SQL in the admin panel. The latest stable build can be acquired via the project official press release.
