Hello Milkbreak
I understand your concern. However, the purpose of Show Some Color II was to provide a platform for people whose gender expression is female to talk about racial identity.
I attended the Show Some Color II performance at 111 Minna. I did not know about the show until the day of and therefore, I could not officially register. The day of the show, I wanted to dance to Nina Simone’s 4 Women, but the dj did not have the song available. Before I left that night I was told that it was ok for me to submit my performance at a later date.
The purpose of my performance was to illuminate the fact that there is a multiplicity of identities that come with being a black/brown/yellow/tan womyn.
I really do appreciate how the open ended format of Show Some Color II has made it accessible enough for me to voice my perspective on racial identity. If you have any more specific questions I suggest you contact the fabricatorz co producers.
Thanks to everyone who voted for me.
Peace and Blessings
Ada

my two cents, but it doesnt seem fair that someone gets to submit a video that they produced outside of the context of the space/event. Don’t get me wrong, i think its RAD that someone created a video response, but it was created under a completely different set of circumstances. i mean if this is under consideration, then why not the video of the male who came out of the audience and performed? that logic just seems a little strange to me.
